How much RAM do you need for Rust?
Rust is a very memory-intensive game. The amount of RAM you need depends heavily on your map size, entity count, wipe cycle, and active plugins.
| RAM | Players / Usage | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 6GB RAM | Small Maps / Few Players | Vanilla or light plugins. Good for small custom maps or testing. |
| 8GB RAM | Standard Maps | The recommended baseline for standard procedural maps (3500-4000) with moderate plugins. |
| 12GB+ RAM | Large Maps / Active | Required for large maps (4500+), heavy modded servers, and long wipe cycles with high entity counts. |
| 16GB+ RAM | Massive Communities | For servers with 100+ active players, heavy Oxide plugins, and very large entity databases. |
Note: Rust consumes more RAM as the wipe progresses and the entity count grows. It is always better to have a buffer to prevent server crashes.
Dedicated IP Address
For serious Rust communities, a dedicated IP and default port (28015) is highly recommended. It allows players to connect effortlessly without remembering custom ports and helps with server listing visibility.

Is Rust server hosting different from VPS?+
Yes. Game hosting provides a ready-to-use control panel specifically configured for Rust, making it much easier to manage wipes, updates, and plugins compared to setting everything up manually on a VPS.
Can I use Oxide/uMod?+
Absolutely. Our platform fully supports Oxide/uMod. You can easily install it and manage your plugins via FTP or the file manager.
Can I host custom maps?+
Yes, you can host custom maps (.map files) by uploading them to your server or providing a direct download URL in the server configuration.
Is DDoS protection included?+
Yes, all Rust servers come with enterprise-grade DDoS protection to keep your server online during attacks, which are common in the Rust community.
How do wipes work?+
You have full control over your server. You can wipe the map, blueprints, or both whenever you choose, directly from the control panel or via FTP.
How much RAM do I really need?+
Rust is memory-hungry. We recommend at least 8GB for a standard experience. If you use a large map or long wipe cycles, you will need 12GB or more to prevent crashes as entities build up.
Can I upgrade my RAM later?+
Yes! If you notice your server hitting its RAM limits as the wipe progresses, you can upgrade your plan seamlessly.
Do you offer a dedicated IP?+
Yes, you can opt for a dedicated IP and the default 28015 port when configuring your server plan, which is highly recommended for public communities.
